After painstakingly rebuilding the instrument, Gibson decided to offer the same guitar to the public as the Arlo Guthrie LG-2 3/4. In 2002 Gibson decided to reintroduce this very model when Arlo Guthrie contacted Gibson’s craftsmen to ask for help In reconstructing a guitar that his father Woody had given him as a present. This is the guitar that Arlo Guthrie favors. In 1942 Gibson offered the LG-2 and by 1949 it was available in a 3/4 size version. In 1933 Gibson had also introduced the very fancy LC model in a 3/4 sized version. By 1937, Gibson offered this model in a 3/4 sized option. This was a small bodied instrument, and one of the nicer versions of the L series. In 1932 Gibson introduce the L-00 Flat top guitar. This guitar was designed to be tuned three frets above standard pitch. The Martin Terz was a 3/4 scale guitar and offered in different styles. So it would stand to reason Martin would continue the tradition. Martin senior learned his craft, had built Terz guitars. It was based on the size of the Terz or Treble classical guitar. Hell a few of my purchases since the start of all this have had a better return than my portfolio and I get to enjoy them before cashing out.In the 1930’s C.F. You get an incredible instrument to play and the potential to make money down the road. People love to push the “Buy China!” bit but realistically now is a great time to go American. Give it another year of the same and I should be looking for atleast $1600. I paid a bit under $1100 on the studio and have had offers up to $1400. I bought a Gibson LP studio last year new and after some haggling got a discount since I was also buying a helix at the same time. I paid well under a grand for a MiA strat, assembled an American/custom shop partscaster tele for $550, and have flipped a handful of acoustics in the past month.Įven looking at buying new you can make money off the price hikes. People are out of work, short on cash, unaware of what they inherited, unwilling to do basic repairs/maintenance, etc. I’ve scored a few stupid good deals from the big brands that I could flip for a healthy profit. The feds printed more money recently than ever before then handed it out to corporations that have been playing ball with them during the whole mess of the last couple years.Īlso assuming the bottom doesn’t fall out when people realize our entire economy is a sham now might be a great time to buy guitars.
